The Best Time to Get Pregnant

The best time to get pregnant is during ovulation, and it is a small window when the chance of pregnancy is the highest. If you have sex with the window when ovulation occurs then you are most likely to conceive, therefore predicting ovulation is very important for any couple wishing to have a baby.

Ovulation basics

Ovulation occurs once a month when a woman’s ovary releases a mature egg into her pelvic cavity and her fallopian tube. Although woman releases many eggs during the period of a cycle, a mature egg is released only once a month during ovulation. It is the window which offers a woman the best chance of conceiving.

Although an egg may last only 12 to 24 hours, semen can last up to 4 or 5 days and thus if you can predict when you will ovulate, you can have sex in the days leading up to ovulation, increasing your chances of fertilizing the mature egg.

I have gone into much more detail on ovulation here, if you would like some outside sources, then I suggest reading out it here.

Predicting ovulation- Your best bet to a successful pregnancy

Now that we know the best time to get pregnant is during a woman’s ovulation period, we have to learn how to predict it. Unlike other symptoms, signs of ovulation are quite hard to see and often go unnoticed. That is why you will have to put in some effort to make a prediction. This can be done manually or with the use of testing products.

I would suggest you forget about manually trying to make predictions because a good testing kit will only cost you 20-40 dollars and it will be much more accurate than anything you can muster. I suggest buying urine or saliva ovulation predictor kits; you can pick them up at your local pharmacy or supermarket. They need to be used on a daily basis (just follow the instructions) and they will look for changes in hormones which happen before ovulation occurs.

If you know a few days in advance that ovulation happens, then you can have sexual intercourse up to, during and after ovulation. It is the best time to get pregnant as your chances are highest.

I followed what you said, but I still cannot get pregnant. Am I infertile?

I have written an excellent article about infertility, and I suggest you look at it before you get ideas on whether or not you are your partner are infertile. In all likelihood, you just have not tried enough, so just keep on working.
