Once infected with herpes virus, a person goes through different stages and reoccurrences of the infection. Along with the medical herpes treatment follow the natural cure for herpes as these will help in faster recovery and lower the rate of recurrences.

Don't touch – Avoid touching the sores, although you might be tempted to scratch them please don't do it.

If you touch them then wash your hands with warm water and soap each time. It is important to maintain an appropriate hygiene as this infection can be communicated to other parts of the skin and body. To avoid the area with blisters from scratching apply a paste of baking soda with water on the sores.

Dry the blisters – It is important to keep the blisters dry as a moist environment wouldn't encourage a speedy recovery. For genital herpes, you can set a blow dryer on low and dry the blisters carefully without burning yourself. Other drying agents like cornstarch or calamine lotion also work well for both genital herpes and cold sores.

Abstains Sex – If you have genital herpes you should inform your partner. As this condition is highly contagious you should avoid any sexual contact, even with condoms completely. Also, avoid wearing tight-fitting or synthetic clothes if you have genital herpes. Prefer wearing clean cotton underwear so that there is sufficient air for the skin with blisters to breathe.

Cool ice – Application of ice on the blisters provides relief for many and also reduces its recurrence by suppressing the virus; however, make sure to dry the skin after applying ice packs. Placing cold tea bags on the blisters is also one of the herpes home remedies, the tannic acid in tea can soothe the blisters and skin tissue.

Warm water baths – Relax in a bathtub filled with warm water twice daily. If you have pain during urination (acidic contents of urine when comes in contact with the blisters can be painful) then prefer urinating in the bathtub itself to avoid pain.
