Understanding Men’s Health Issues

Men's Health Issues

One of the men's health issues is concerned with the prostate, and you would not believe the number of men who do not even know what it is, or what it does.

Well, the prostate gland is an essential part of the male reproductive system, by creating a fluid that mixes with sperm and other fluids during ejaculation, and these fluids nourish and transport sperm during the process of ejaculation during sexual excitement, which is another one of men's health issues.

A normal gland is around the size of a walnut, and enlargement is very common as a man gets older, medical doctors call this condition BPH or "benign prostatic hyperplasia."

As the prostate enlarges, the layer of tissue surrounding it stops it from expanding, causing this gland to press inward against the urethra and restricting the water flow, narrowing the space for urine to pass.

The narrowing of the urethra and only partial emptying of the bladder causes a large number of issues with men's health associated with an enlarged prostate.

A doctor can determine an enlarged gland during the dreaded finger exam, definitely another one of men's health issues, men's symptoms vary, but the most common health issues are involved with changes or problems with urination, such as a hesitant, urgency, interrupted weak stream, leaking or dribbling, and frequent urination especially at night.

Men who have symptoms of obstruction are much more likely to develop chronic kidney disease; these are troubling and dangerous if not found and corrected in time, definitely a close time for men's health issues.

Treatments vary, and many useful pharmaceutical drugs are available to improve men's health symptoms and issues.

There are also beneficial natural herbal therapies, including the use of some commonly used herbs, which include rye pollen, stinging nettle, pygeum, saw palmetto, and in addition to herbs and mainstream medications, there are some fundamental common sense behavioral changes, which can help combat these worrying men's health issues.

Among these changes are decreasing fluid intake, limiting or ending alcohol and caffeine consumption particularly in the evening, not passing up a chance to use the bathroom, even your bladder doesn't feel full.

These simple steps can help reduce the impact of an enlarged prostate on a man’s life and relieve some of these men's health issues once and for all.

The three main types of initial problems relative to men's health issues are enlargement, infection, and cancer.

Benign prostatic hypertrophy (BPH) is a non cancerous enlargement, and although men in their 20s can suffer from BPH, these men's health issues usually only surface later in life, and it is estimated that 50% of all men will have BPH by reaching 60, and 90% will suffer from BPH by 85.

The primary medical treatment for BPH symptoms is the noninvasive surgery called Transurethral resection of the prostate, including commonly referred to as reaming out the prostate.

Cancer of the prostate is the second most frequently diagnosed cancer in males after skin cancer and is the second most common cause of cancer death in men after lung cancer.

The early symptoms of prostate cancer are incredibly similar to those of BPH, including getting up often at night to urinate, urinating frequently but only in small amounts, having to wait forever for the flow to start, and a stream that starts and stops, these symptoms do not mean that you have prostate cancer, but these or other men's health issues already mentioned, does signal that it’s time for an immediate check-up.
